McCain wants to cut down on defense contracting. He said so (in plain words) during last night’s debate while discussing how to fix the economy. Do you realize how many hundreds of thousands of jobs would be hurt if he did this? If he cuts defense contractor spending, it could mean the loss of more jobs.
Defense contractors are hired by the government to do all types of work–drivers, mechanics, engineers, technicians, IT, tech writers, secretaries, construction workers, etc. These are middle class people making sure America has the means necessary to remain secure, whether they are working thousands of miles from home or 30 minutes away. They are not always treated as good as government employees (who get better benefits and higher income), but contractors are known for doing the hard work–getting the job done. If the government is faced with less funds for contractors, you better believe they’ll start laying them off left and right.
We can’t put these people out of a job.
So, please DO NOT vote for McCain. He doesn’t have anyone’s interests in mind but his own and the big businesses.
